Isla Mejures is located where the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea meet, which means that the water temperature is warm year-round. In fact, it rarely dips below 70 degrees Fahrenheit! You’ll likely experience water temperatures in the 80s depending on the time of year you go. Additionally, the visibility underwater is almost always more than 100 feet, so you’ll be able to see everything around you with ease.
There are a variety of dives ranging from an Open Water level with the depth averaging between 30-40 feet and little to no current to Advanced dives up to 100 ft deep and drift dives. There’s something for everyone at Isla Mejures!

There are more than 20 dive sites around Isla Mejures, so you’ll never get bored! Whether you’re interested in exploring a shipwreck or swimming through a coral reef, there’s something for everyone.

Atlantis – You can finally achieve your dream of going to Atlantis! Well, sort of. This dive site is shallow and full of live and impressive coral formations. Suitable for all dive qualifications. You can expect to find barracudas, sharks and turtles.
Ultrafreeze – This shipwreck is 200 feet long resting at 96 ft deep and divers can experience strong currents on the descent, meaning it is for advanced divers only. It is definitely worth the trek down as you can expect to see barracuda, grouper, manta rays, eels and turtles.
Sleeping Shark Cave – As the name suggests, this cave is a favorite for sharks for napping! On this dive you might be lucky enough to find a nurse shark resting on the sea floor in the cave having a snooze.
Underwater Museum – Have you ever visited an underwater art gallery? Now you can! All levels of divers will enjoy the beautiful sunken sculptures that have become home to coral and fish alike.
Chairel Wreck – Another wonderful, advanced shipwreck! At 89 ft, this discontinued ferry is teeming with barracuda, spotted eagle rays, snappers and moray eels.
Punta Sur – If you’re looking for a fun and challenging dive site, look no further than Punta Sur. This will likely be the strongest drift dive you’ll ever experience. You’ll travel 3 miles underwater! Dolphins, giant sea turtles and nurse sharks will likely join you for the ride.
