Jenny Lord - Human Factors Instructor
Jenny Lord is a dynamic force in the diving community, blending her expertise as a Human Factors instructor with a passion for fostering teamwork, communication, and safety in diving. Based in Dahab, Egypt, Jenny is a TDI technical instructor trainer, advanced Trimix instructor, and advanced mixed gas CCR diver with over a decade of experience teaching SCUBA and supporting deep diving expeditions. Her journey began in outdoor education, where she taught rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, skiing, and more, developing a unique ability to empower individuals and teams in challenging environments.
As a key member of The Human Diver team, Jenny is renowned for her engaging Human Factors courses and as a prolific writer for the blog, inspiring divers worldwide with her insights on creating a positive and safety-focused culture. Her influence reaches new heights in 2025 as she joins the Master Liveaboards trip in Indonesia, where participants will have the rare opportunity to dive with her and experience her passion for diving and human factors firsthand. Whether through her teaching or writing, Jenny continues to make waves in the diving world, inspiring and elevating those around her.
Scuba Adventures is absolutely thrilled to welcome Jenny Lord to what promises to be one of the most exciting and impactful expeditions we’ve ever undertaken. Over the years, Scuba Adventures has hosted multiple sessions of the highly regarded Face 2 Face class, helping over 30 divers engage deeply with the principles of teamwork, just culture, and psychological safety. On this trip, we’re honored to have five of these graduates joining us, bringing their shared language and understanding to the team dynamic.
Now, we’re taking it a step further. On our upcoming trip to Indonesia, we’re bringing together six of those graduates who will join Jenny Lord for what promises to be an unforgettable expedition. The foundation of shared language and understanding among these graduates, combined with Jenny’s unparalleled expertise in fostering teamwork, just culture, and psychological safety, will create a dynamic team environment unlike anything we’ve seen before.
Remember that iconic scene in The Matrix where Neo (Mr. Anderson) is offered a choice: the red pill or the blue pill? The red pill represents the opportunity to awaken to the truth, to see the world as it really is, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. The blue pill, on the other hand, allows him to stay in the comfort of the illusion, blissfully ignorant of reality. I’m offering my staff the red pill, over and over again, and so far, none of them have wanted to go back to the blue pill lifestyle.
This trip will not only push the boundaries of what we can accomplish in diving but also what we can achieve as a cohesive team. With a shared focus on teamwork, just culture, and psychological safety, we’re striving to make this journey more than just a diving trip—it’s a chance to grow as individuals, as divers, and as a community.
